Say Hello to Concierge: A New Course Preparing Young People for a Future in HospitalityRead All Posts
On International Youth Day 2021, IYF is excited to announce the launch of Passport to Success Concierge (PTS-C)—a brand new, free, online version of our award-winning life skills training course that’s designed specifically for the hospitality and tourism sector. It's the latest innovation to emerge from our 10+ year partnership with Hilton.
Why hospitality and tourism? Well, despite being hit hard during the Covid-19 crisis, the travel and tourism industry is poised to rebound with gusto—in fact, it’s expected to produce 80 million new jobs by 2029. Not surprisingly, many of those jobs will be filled by young people, so preparing them for success is more important now than ever before.
Why life skills? As Hilton and other industry leaders agree, the most sought after (and successful) employees all possess strong "life skills" like problem solving, team work, self confidence, and empathy. PTS Concierge focuses on all these (and additional) critical life skills that are tied to success in the industry. These skills are indispensable for jobs in hospitality and tourism, but they're also invaluable in many other areas of work and life.
The scenarios and examples in the course were inspired by real-life challenges that young people in the hospitality and tourism field have faced on the job. Like all PTS courses, PTS Concierge is designed to help users gain knowledge, practice what they learn, and reflect on how they can apply new knowledge and skills in the future.

“We’re thrilled to build on our long-standing partnership with IYF and help the next generation of talent find their way in our great industry,” said Chris Nassetta, President and CEO, Hilton. “Young people are the future of hospitality, especially as travel resumes and we serve more and more customers around the world. It’s a perfect time to introduce Passport to Success Concierge, which will be a critical tool in equipping this group with the skills they need to build a long and successful career in travel and tourism.”
If your organization or school would like to incorporate PTS Concierge into existing programming, let us know! Any questions can be directed to Katie Raymond.
