For over a decade, our programs in China empowered young people to access training and become community leaders. We partnered with one of the country’s longest-standing nonprofits and their local knowledge contributed to the success of the Brilliant Futures initiative in preparing Chinese youth with marketable skills, including life skills. Disadvantaged young people like Xie, whose family migrated from the countryside to Beijing, found new opportunities through educational scholarships as part of Unlocking the Potential of Asian Youth. China is also home to several YouthActionNet® fellows whose social entrepreneurship ventures have tackled the diverse topics of volunteerism, Chinese girls’ empowerment, and HIV/AIDS prevention.
