Through our local partner, we provided small grants, training, and technical assistance to volunteer groups carrying out service projects over the course of a school year. In addition to supporting these youth-led activities, the initiative focused on building a national network of young people committed to volunteerism and raising national awareness about youth civic engagement. From 2003 to 2011, the initiative reached more than 10,000 young people here. As a result of participating, 73 percent of youth said they volunteered more and were more productive in school, at work, and in the community.
