Where We Work: United Kingdom
Through the Make a Connection initiative, known locally as Life Routes, we focused on having a deep impact on individual young lives.
Focused on supporting out-of-school youth at 10 different locations such as youth clubs and community center, Life Routes helped these vulnerable youth learn life skills such as teamwork, respect for others, and decision-making. We worked with local partner National Children’s Bureau on this initiative for 10 years, until its conclusion in 2010. At the same time, we’ve been spurring innovation here by supporting YouthActionNet®Laureate Global Fellows like Manpreet and Anna with training and connections to help grow their social enterprises. The United Kingdom ranks number four among the 30 countries included in the new Global Youth Wellbeing Index.
