Nehal Gandhi (she/her) is IYF’s Director of Global Finance. She has been working in the nonprofit sector for over two decades in a variety of roles. More recently, she has been supporting organizations with new business opportunities, annual budget planning, and processes with a focus on financial operations. Prior to that, Nehal worked at the Institute of International Education (IIE) where she was responsible for budgeting and grants management and was a key contributor to the organization’s change management initiatives. Before her decade-long experience at IIE, Nehal worked in India at the Aga Khan Foundation and Tata Trust (one of the largest grant-making foundations in the country). She owes many of her values and life lessons to Initiatives of Change (IofC) where she was an active volunteer member guiding the organization's youth efforts in India. Nehal is a DFID Scholar with a master's degree in Development Economics and Finance from the University of Birmingham, UK, and a bachelor's degree in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She is a founding board member of Game Genius, a nonprofit that leverages games as a way to promote social impact in the DC metro region. She volunteers as a grant reviewer with the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia and the Catalogue for Philanthropy. Born and raised in India, Nehal considers herself fortunate to have studied and lived in different countries and across diverse cultures. She lives in Vienna, VA with her husband and two boys.
