[Mexico City, Mexico] – The International Youth Foundation (IYF) in Mexico recently convened a gathering of key organizations to discuss the pressing challenges and opportunities facing young people globally, with a particular focus on Mexico. The event served as a platform for dialogue and collaboration, bringing together IYF senior staff, board members, and leaders from the social and business sectors to explore ways to expand partnerships and create new opportunities for young people.

Addressing Emerging Challenges

The event focused on three key global trends which are shaping the future: nearshoring and semiconductors, the energy transition, and digital disruption. As the world order evolves and supply chains shift, IYF is investing in creating the workforce that the Latin American region needs for semiconductor manufacturing. In partnership with Intel and the American Chamber of Mexico (AmCham), IYF is actively working to develop the necessary skills and resources for this sector.

"As we look to the future, we are positioning young people to not only adapt to these global changes but to lead the way in transforming industries," said Jorge Barragan, Executive Vice President for Program at IYF. "Through strategic collaborations and skill-building initiatives, we are empowering Mexico’s youth to seize emerging opportunities in technology, energy, and digital innovation."

Additionally, as the transition to a low-carbon economy accelerates, IYF is prepared to develop skills for the energy transition across the country through innovation labs. With support from the TK Foundation, government representatives from Baja California, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, and Quintana Roo, as well as theAsociación Nacional de Universidades e Instituciones de Educación Superior (ANUIES) and the Asociación Nacional de Universidades Tecnológicas (ANUT), IYF is committed to equipping young people with the knowledge and tools to contribute to a sustainable future.

Furthermore, the digital revolution has transformed the world of work, and IYF is at the forefront of preparing youth for this new reality. Through partnerships with leading IT companies like Google, Microsoft, and Cisco, IYF has been able to provide young people with the skills and training necessary to succeed in the digital age.

Scaling Impact Through Strategic Partnerships

Building on the momentum generated with public, civil, and private sector partners in Mexico, IYF is actively mobilizing new alliances to expand opportunities for youth in 2025. The recent event showcased IYF's capacity and impact, attracting interest from key stakeholders such as AES México, AmCham, ANUIES, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, Cisco Networking Academy, Constellation Brands, Bécalos, Grupo Bimbo, Intel, Metlife, Nacional Monte de Piedad, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and 3M.

IYF seeks partners committed to creating tangible pathways to address the challenges facing young people by expanding access to education, employment, and leadership opportunities. Through these collaborations, we aim to foster a more inclusive and equitable society for all youth.

A Future-Focused Approach

IYF is dedicated to understanding and addressing the evolving needs of young people in a rapidly changing world. By focusing on emerging trends like artificial intelligence, automation, and sustainability, we ensure our programs remain relevant and effective.

The event served as a catalyst for further action and collaboration. IYF is now working to implement the strategies discussed and expand its reach to even more young people across Mexico. By leveraging our partnerships and expertise, IYF aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals and contribute to the overall development of the country.

As Mexico navigates the complexities of the 21st century, IYF is committed to empowering young people to be active and engaged citizens. By equipping them with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, IYF aims to shape a brighter future for Mexico and its youth, ensuring that all young people can realize their full potential.
