Walmart Social Retail Training Program (2012-2016)

Walmart Social Retail Training Program_Image

Building on the success of an earlier initiative equipping at-risk youth in Brazil with retail, IT, and life skills, we joined with Walmart Foundation to launch the Walmart Social Retail Training Program in 2012. This new global initiative has overseen the translation of the proven Escola Social do Varejo curriculum from Portuguese into Chinese, English, and Spanish. Now with pilot adaptations in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and South Africa, we’re studying how to reach even more youth. We’re establishing relationships with public and private networks that are necessary to transferring and scaling the initiative in each country. Through the next phase of the program in Argentina and Chile, we’re training more than 250 staff at over 70 youth-serving NGOs in Argentina and Chile so that they can reach 18,000 youth through the end of 2016.
