Conectad@s IT

Google IT funded by PriceSmart Foundation

Español

The Google IT Colombia program funded by this grant will equip 250 young people in Bogotá with in-demand Information Technology (IT) skills.  The program offers a market-recognized Google certificate upon completion.  Participants will have access to career guidance, life planning and soft skills development workshops, and job search resources, including networking opportunities with potential employers.

The IT sector is expanding rapidly, driving a strong demand for skilled professionals who can support the essential flow and management of information across industries. However, this growth reveals a widening gap between the skills needed and the workforce available. In Colombia, 2020 data showed over 36,000 IT job openings, yet fewer than 27,000 young people graduated from IT-related programs, highlighting the limited access to the right training and career pathways for youth. This disparity hinders young talent from fully participating in the economy and leaves critical roles unfilled, slowing the potential impact of innovation in the country.

The Conectad@s IT program directly addresses this challenge by equipping young people with high-demand IT skills. Funded by PriceSmart Foundation, this program will provide 250 youth in Bogotá with access to quality training and a globally recognized Google certificate, empowering them to confidently pursue careers in the tech sector. Participants will receive tailored career guidance, life and professional skills development, and resources for navigating the job market, including networking opportunities with potential employers.

By opening these pathways, we’re not only strengthening Colombia’s IT workforce but also fostering a future where young people can shape their careers and drive innovation in their communities. This program stands as a critical bridge between Colombia’s youth and the evolving demands of a technology-driven world.
