Tanzania 21st Century (TZ21)
Working closely with the Tanzanian Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, we put tools in place that will continue to increase student achievement, particularly reading skills, in the country’s lower primary school level. With funding from USAID, between 2011 and 2014 TZ21 developed digital training kits for use in all 866 of Tanzania’s schools of this level. This locally adapted, interactive “e-content” helps teachers grow professionally and deliver lessons in a fresh, dynamic way. Just for reading, 268,000 children in lower primary schools have benefitted from the teacher training. TZ21 also has provided these schools and teacher resource centers with computers, projectors, and internet connectivity.
