Tanzania Youth Scholars (TYS) (2011-2016)
This initiative connected orphans and vulnerable children in Tanzania with educational scholarships and the training to help them reach their full potential. Funded by USAID and the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), this five-year initiative launched in 2011. The initiative provided market-driven vocational skills training for orphans and vulnerable children, with special attention devoted to the education of marginalized young women. We also equipped young men and women with life skills necessary to their personal growth and their positive contributions to the workforce, their family, and their communities. Throughout the initiative, we empowered our local youth-serving partners to continually refine how they manage scholarship programs and deliver skills training.
