Upgrading Informal Apprenticeships

The Upgrading Informal Apprenticeship initiative in Jordan looked to expand the opportunity for youth to move from the informal to formal economy, with an overarching focus on youth employability through enhanced training and apprenticeships. After completing Passport to Success® life skills training, as well as theoretical technical training, youth beneficiaries were placed into apprenticeships as a way to gain practical, on-the-job job experience. Youth also benefited from ongoing, personalized mentorship and guidance. Working in partnership with the International Labour Organization, IYF linked unemployed, vulnerable young men and women between the ages of 16 and 24 to these opportunities in five governorates across Jordan: East Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Ma’an, and Tefileh.
