Principal, Destiny Development Delta, LLCDonzel Leggett is an accomplished supply chain and operations executive with over 30 years of experience driving global business growth for Fortune 200 consumer products companies. Donzel’s career reflects a demonstrated track record of leading transformational change on a global scale through strategic vision, planning and execution, and inspirational leadership with enterprise-wide initiatives that include optimizing supply chain operations, integrating M&A transactions and assessing and managing risk in complex global business environments. He also brings a deep background in corporate governance through his 16+ years of experience on international and global leadership teams.
Donzel is the former Vice President, International Supply Chain, reporting directly to the president of the international segment at General Mills, Inc. (NYSE: GIS) a multi-national consumer foods company with $20B+ in sales and over 20% of its business outside the U.S. Throughout his 28-year tenure at GMI, he led domestic, international, and global manufacturing and supply chain operations and had accountability for up to 40 global manufacturing facilities and distribution centers, $3.5B in total cost of goods (COGS), and 9K+ employees across 12 countries and 5 continents. Donzel also advised GMI board members and executive teams on international supply chain strategy, M&A Integration, and governance, risk, and compliance matters, leading the global manufacturing portion of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and the Int’l Supply Chain Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) focus for many years.
At GMI, Donzel was significantly involved in executing multiple acquisitions including the supply chain due diligence, complete integration of four international acquisitions, transitioning 15 manufacturing plants, 20 distribution centers, 6K+ employees, and $2B in COGS. He also developed a multi-year strategy to transform the business model of the company’s largest emerging markets acquisition, quadrupling profitability, by streamlining the entire value chain from ten plants to one, twenty distribution centers to five and modernizing transportation and procurement, while navigating a highly complex regulatory and tax environment.
Donzel’s extensive supply chain strategic realignment and optimization experience includes large-scale restructuring, generating cost savings, and improving agility and responsiveness. While at GMI, Donzel led several global enterprise transformation initiatives which increased profitable growth, organization flattening, and simplification to create more agile and robust business models while generating $60M in savings. He was a Steering Committee member and Supply Chain Design Leader for the International segment restructuring resulting in the redesign of the international supply chain structure generating $25M in savings.
As a truth teller and strategic visionary, Donzel is known for making the complex simple and building strong collaborative cultures across many geographies, cultures, and diverse backgrounds. Donzel is currently the Principal at Destiny Development Delta, LLC, a US based international consultancy focused on executive leadership development leveraging the proprietary model and methodology he developed. Donzel serves in various leadership roles on several local, national, and global non-profit boards and advisory councils including the Football Leadership Council, Athletics Advisory Board, Polytechnic Diversity Advisory Council, and Intelligent Manufacturing Advisory Board at Purdue University; Investment & Audit Committee Chair at the International Youth Foundation; and Board Chair of the Anti-Racism Commitment Coalition, which he also founded. In 2022, Donzel was selected to the Twin Cities Business list of the top 100 people to know. He is also the former Board Chair at Twin Cities Rise.
Donzel holds both Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Industrial Technology from Purdue University where he was an Academic All-America and three-time Academic All-Big Ten football player. Additionally, he earned an MBA from Nova Southeastern University. Donzel also holds an Equity and Diversity Certificate of Completion through the Office for Equity and Diversity (OED) at the University of Minnesota and is NACD (National Association of Corporate Directors) Directorship Certified™. Donzel speaks native/fluent English, professionally proficient Spanish, and limited working proficiency Portuguese.
