YouthMap Uganda Internship Program: Rose's Story
View All VideosGraduate Rose worked her way up from being an intern to a full-time employee at DFCU Bank.The initiative's internship program has provided opportunities for young Ugandans like her to develop new skills, gain experience, and build their networks in order to be better placed to break into Uganda's competitive job market and earn a livelihood.Building on the YouthMap assessment findings, IYF and its partner Restless Development designed and implemented the internship program under USAID's guidance. Through strong public-private partnerships with leading companies such as DFCU Bank, the program offers employability skills training to 100 university graduates and places them in six-month internships, providing continual mentorship, support, and follow-up training.The program is guided by an advisory board composed of representatives from USAID, Parliamentary Forum on Youth Affairs, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Federation of Uganda Employers, Crested Stocks and Securities, MTN, DFCU Bank, Aga Khan Foundation, Youth Business International, VSO, and the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.
