IYF to Equip 60,000 Mexican Youth with AI Skills, Supported by Google.org

Mexico City, March 24, 2025 – Young people are the driving force behind progress and innovation. Yet, in many regions of Mexico, access to critical digital skills remains limited, creating barriers to future opportunities in the workforce.
To help bridge this gap, the International Youth Foundation (IYF) is proud to announce a new program with the support of Google.org, Google’s philanthropic arm, to provide AI literacy to 60,000 students from public and technical schools across Mexico. This new initiative, named InteligencIA, will strengthen their digital skills by offering free, online, self-paced learning opportunities over the next three years.
With a shared mission to drive inclusive economic growth, this program will empower young people—particularly in southern Mexico and underserved regions—with the skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing workforce. InteligencIA is open to young people aged 14 to 29, with a focus on communities with limited access to digital education in at least eight states.
"This support for the development of technological skills reflects Google's commitment to bring artificial intelligence to all Mexicans and to promote economic opportunities that accompany technological and social progress in the country", said Eleonora Rabinovich, Director of Government Affairs & Public Policy for Spanish Speaking LatAm at Google.
InteligencIA is an initiative designed to adapt to the needs of its participants. The course takes approximately 10 hours to complete and includes specialized modules, such as Responsible AI Use, which equips learners with practical tools to apply AI ethically and safely in professional and educational settings. The program’s goal is for 75% of participants to express interest in further AI training and for at least 50% of those enrolled to be women.
"Young people in Mexico are key to the country’s digital transformation," said Miguel Primo Armendáriz, IYF’s Country Director in Mexico. "With InteligencIA, we’re expanding access to AI education so more youth can become leaders in the future of technology," he added.
During six years of Google.org support, IYF has implemented IT initiatives in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa, positively impacting over 12,900 young people in seven countries. Now, through InteligencIA, the two organizations are taking a significant step toward closing the digital divide in Mexico and driving inclusive economic growth in Mexico.
Google.org’s support for IYF strengthens both organizations’ commitment to developing digital talent. As technology continues to reshape how we learn and work, initiatives like this help expand access to the tools people need to grow and thrive.
At IYF and Google.org, we remain committed to driving digital transformation by ensuring more young people gain the skills and opportunities to contribute to their communities' growth.
