SUMMARY DESCRIPTION & JOB PURPOSE
The primary responsibility of this position will be to provide driving services for IYF staff, guests, and consultants.
The Driver & Security Officer will be based in Maputo, Mozambique. The ideal candidate will be a person with a commitment to international development and values-driven work environment, with experience providing driving to international NGOs in Mozambique.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the safe operation, usage, and maintenance of the assigned vehicle.
- Ensures all duties as driver of the assigned vehicle are performed in adherence with local traffic laws and IYF Policies, specifically Authorized Driver Agreement.
- Responsible for accounting for each trip, record-keeping and attendant paperwork from each trip using IYF Vehicle Log Book to ensure vehicle usage activities comply with IYF Policies.
- Reports any problems identified in the vehicle and also ensure all licenses and documents relating to the vehicle are renewed on time and as required.
- Supports program implementation through the implementation of safety approaches, procedures, and protocols delineated by IYF regarding travel.
- Reports and advises on any risks and/or incidents that may impact IYF in Mozambique relating to travel.
- Deliver and or collect letters and supplies from partners and vendors as required.
- Assist with the office duties as assigned including photocopying, filing, collection of quotes, and assistance in organizing project-related workshops/training.
- Provide backup front desk reception support, assist with routine office functions, and maintain files.
- Runs errands for the office and performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISOR
Reports to Finance & Administration Manager based in Maputo, Mozambique.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of a good grade in secondary school level education.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience driving a company vehicle. Driving for an International Organization or NGO would be an added advantage.
- Possession of a clean and valid driving license is a condition for employment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under stressful conditions.
- General familiarity with travel issues in Mozambique is desired. Ability to adjust to stay abreast and be proactive with safety and security situations, providing advice, recommending shifting travel circumstances, and facilitating operations accordingly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse international teams.
- Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines, and intense pressure to perform.
