SUMMARY DESCRIPTION & PURPOSE
The Employment Coordinator will coordinate the employability components of an ILO project implemented in Jordan by IYF. This position will be based in Amman, Jordan on a full-time basis.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Program Manager in monitoring the quality of work in five target governorates (Irbid, Zarqa, East Amman, Tafeeleh, and Ma’an), by conducting regular site visits and provide feedback to the Programs Manager on the timeliness and quality of program interventions.
- Under the supervision of the Program Manager, coordinate and implement employability strategy at the governorate level, working closely with the industrial sector partners through a co-implementation model to achieve the proposed targets under the project. Specifically, the Employment Coordinator will:
- Identify and cultivate ongoing strategic partnerships with potential employers in their assigned communities and in updating the local labor market assessment related to the industrial sector in Jordan and potential economic opportunities for youth at the local level. Maintain and manage employability log, sharing economic opportunities, youth and parents.
- Through regular and structured field visits provide coaching, technical support and capacity building trainings to Technical mentors on employability models, particularly in the area of labor market assessments; career guidance activities for youth; job placement strategies to effectively match and link youth to jobs; follow up with youth during the job placement and post placement phases; and employer engagement.
- Engage employers in the program activities, including career guidance, the design of market driven training curricula, the identification of on-the-job training and internships opportunities and/or direct job placement opportunities for the targeted youth.
- Follow up and maintain cooperative relationships with employers to ensure strong pre & post-placement outcomes and high retention rates for youth placed in jobs through organizing roundtables and job fairs, etc.
- Work closely with program partners, as well as IYF staff to capture learnings, trends and barriers to successful employment across the targeted governorates; support M&E and communications activities to capture best practices, highlight success stories and integrate M&E findings back into program implementation.
- Support the coordination of training service provider activities under the direction of the Programs Manager to ensure timely organization and delivery of training programs; Follow up with industrial sector Partners to ensure program quality and relevance of the training curricula.
- Participate in developing the monthly and quarterly report and any other reports or updates as requested by the program Manager and senior management.
SUPERVISOR
Reports directly to the Program Manager, Employability based in Amman.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in a social science, development or equivalent standard of education.
- 1-5 years of experience employability programs
- Knowledge of/experience with programs that support youth employment and/or social services (e.g. employment, education, health) preferred.
- Experience in research, reporting and conducting surveys.
- Oral and written fluency in English and Arabic.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
- Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 70% of time within Jordan.
