SUMMARY DESCRIPTION & PURPOSE
The Job Placement Officer will assist activities under IYF’s Emploi Habilité program in Morocco. The Job Placement Officer will work under the direction of IYF Country Director in Morocco and will perform a variety of oversight functions related to job/internship placement of targeted students under this project, including conducting outreach activities with the private and public sector, ensuring follow up visits to students during their internships, and performing assigned clerical duties and other related work as required.

This is a full time position under a fixed-duration contract of 12 months.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Carry out prospecting visits and other outreach activities to tourism and hospitality sector businesses for the purposes of youth job placement.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with potential employers and recruitment/placement agencies, either public or private.
  • Maintain positive and regular relations with the administration and technical staff of Ministry of Tourism training centers involved in the project.
  • Coordinate and manage students’ job/internship placements.
  • Maintain close contact with youth to accurately assess their skills and interests in order to assign appropriate job and internship placements.
  • Provide follow-up support to youth in internships and participate in evaluating their performance.
  • Identify the needs of youth seeking employment for capacity building, and work with IYF team to develop needed support.
  • Maintain a youth placement database, by ensuring the collection and entry of data points tracking youth placements and progress.
  • Develop, collect and maintain forms, procedures, tracking documents, and records (i.e. student permanent records) as needed.
  • Ensure follow up of recently employed students and maintain a close communication with employers.
  • Offer additional support in technical and life skills training, as needed.
  • Carry out administrative duties related to youth follow up and placement efforts.

SUPERVISOR
Reports to IYF Country Director based in Rabat, Morocco

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in social science, development commerce, management, sales, communication or equivalent standard of education.
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience in marketing, sales or related domain.
  • Knowledge of /experience with the Moroccan context, the local socio-economic environment and the changing labor market within the tourism and hospitality sector preferred.
  • Experience in vocational training systems and employment agencies/institutions.
  • Experience with interview techniques and job search.
  • Excellent abilities in computer tools, including those related to data processing.
  • Excellent “life skills” (psycho-social competencies related to employability).
  • Oral and written fluency in Moroccan Arabic, French, and English.
