SUMMARY DESCRIPTION & PURPOSE
The Program Coordinator will provide substantial coordination and implementation support to IYF’s youth development program in Atyrau, Kazakhstan, including day-to-day follow up and monitoring of planned activities with program partners. The Program Coordinator will also provide significant support to youth outreach and community awareness building activities for the project, supporting all logistical and organizational aspects of implementation planning. Taking overall directions from the Senior Program Manager, the Program Coordinator will work closely with local partners, the US-based STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) partners, and IYF cross-functional technical teams and finance and operations staff.
The ideal candidate will be a person with a commitment to positive youth development, with some experience implementing education and/or youth development programs in Kazakhstan.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of Life Skills and STEM pilot activities through regular site visits to program partners; provide technical support and feedback to ensure on-time delivery and quality of implementation
- Support and coordinate training and capacity building activities for program partners; assist in the field assessment of these partners to ensure program quality and relevance of STEM and Life Skills implementation models, training curricula, as well as to ensure the quality of the trainers and delivery methodologies
- Coordinate youth outreach activities, ensuring strong demand for program activities by youth, while ensuring the interests and needs of young people are taken into consideration during implementation rollout
- Provide significant support to the logistical and organizational aspects of program planning, including the securing of training and meeting venues, preparing and printing outreach materials, and the coordination and set up of program activities at specific community events
- Support community-awareness-building activities for the program with relevant stakeholders; under the direction of the Senior Program Manager, support the organization of presentations and stakeholder gatherings to build a greater understanding for STEM and Life Skills education in Atyrau
- Assist in the documentation of implementation progress, partner meeting minutes and prepare appropriate contributions to quarterly reports and generate other technical reports as required
- Assist in the documentation of all cross-cutting activities in support of the program’s Monitoring and Evaluation framework
- Identify any problems and challenges that may arise and offer solutions accordingly
- Support the delivery of specific communications and marketing tasks included in the implementation plan for assigned programs

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- At least a bachelor’s degree or higher plus a minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in community development and /or youth education
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be a self-starter who takes initiative and is comfortable working in a small office
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and diplomacy in a multi-stakeholder environment
- Strong collaboration and partnership building skills
- Strong oral and written Kazakh and Russian communication skills. Fluency in Kazakh is required. Knowledge of English preferable.
- Excellent computer skills using MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
