SUMMARY DESCRIPTION & PURPOSE
The STEM Program Manager will be responsible for the implementation and oversight of STEM-related activities, as well as other cross-cutting activities, as part of new youth development program based in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. He or she will be a core member of program implementation team, working closely with IYF cross-functional technical and operations staff, local program partners, and in close coordination with the program’s STEM partner based in the USA.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with the Program Director and US based STEM partner, support the implementation of assigned Programs to achieve program outputs and outcomes in accordance with donor expectations, grant agreements, and work plans.
- Team with the Program Director in ensuring quality implementation of activities for youth that promote STEM skills development and increased employability potential.
- Oversee sub-grants and contracts to partners including due diligence documentation, budgeting, disbursements, technical and capacity building support, monitoring and evaluation of activities, etc. to ensure successful program delivery.
- Manage outreach and partnership building efforts for STEM related activities, providing technical support in developing and managing capacity building support for local NGOs and/or government partners involved in the Kazakhstan program, with specific focus on quality delivery and integrating implementation models that will support scale and sustainability
- Provide support and training on the adaptation and the in-country deployment of internationally-tested STEM initiatives, in compliance with work plans and budgets.
- Support the organization of community outreach events and other community based activities as part of the project.
- Communicate effectively and collaboratively with donors, partners, relevant government authorities, private sector partners, and other key stakeholders as assigned.
- Review partner reports and contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual reports to program donors, partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Support other program staff and IYF’s Marketing and Communications staff on delivery of tasks included in the communications plan for assigned programs.
- Complete other duties as assigned including meetings, calls, conference, and more.
SUPERVISOR
Reports to the Program Director based at IYF-Kazakhstan.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in planning and implementing multi-faceted programs for young people.
- Bachelors degree or higher. Education in STEM fields preferred.
- Understanding and knowledge of youth development and issues affecting young people and their preparation for employment in Kazakhstan preferred.
- Excellent strategic planning, presentation, team-building and interpersonal skills, as well as an analytical ability to identify and establish priorities and attend to all details in a professional manner.
- Strong collaboration and partnership building skills. Experience in working, and developing partnerships with, corporate donors would be an asset.
- Experience working with international organizations preferred.
- The ability to work successfully within a variety of cross-cultural settings and make judgments in a fast-paced environment, including taking direction from multiple sources.
- Strong oral and written English, Kazakh, and Russian communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills using MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experise in education programs for in and out-of-school youth preferred but not necessary, including performance measureent and training. Some competence in computer science and computational thinking for K-12 youth, including CAD, is preferred but not required.
