CYEP Conference – Vocational Training: Market-Driven Approaches to Connecting Youth at Risk to the Labor Market

This event presentation includes the information shared by Mr. Jan Karpowicz, Mr. Paul Teeple, and Ms. Petula Nash at the Caribbean Youth Empowerment Program (CYEP) conference “Investing in the Future: Empowering Young People” held in Gros Islet Saint, Lucia, on June 25 and 26, 2013.

Mr. Karpowicz represented the Education Development Center in Guyana; Mr. Teeple represented Partners of the Americas; and Ms. Nash represented the International Youth Foundation (IYF). They participated in the “Vocational Training: Market-Driven Approaches to Connecting Youth at Risk to the Labor Market” panel, which examined the gap between education and employment. Panelists discussed three models for vocational training and job placement for youth at risk in the Caribbean: the Skills and Knowledge for Youth Employment program, the A Ganar program, and CYEP.
