Turning Employer Challenges into Workforce Intelligence

By aligning education systems with industry needs, we move from intention to implementation.

IYF’s workforce development experts create assessment tools that enable employers and communities to identify skills gaps, hiring needs, and opportunities to build skills that lead to opportunity. Our approach to skills gap analysis helps employers and training institutions translate labor market demand into community priorities.

Skills Gap Analysis Workshops

IYF’s Skills Gap Workshops help employers move from a general hiring challenge—“we can’t find the talent we need”—to a clear, sector-level understanding of which competencies are critical, which are scarce, and where workforce systems need to respond. Across industries, employers often experience skills shortages as an individual recruitment problem. But when the same challenge appears across a sector, it can signal a larger mismatch between what employers need and what the workforce pipeline is preparing people to do.

Industry Competency Models

IYF develops models that examine both what employers need and what shapes young people’s ability to access those opportunities, including industry competency models that map skills to educational opportunities. IYF developed the world’s first EV and oil and gas competency models, which have been enthusiastically validated by industry representatives.
