Karen González is IYF’s Global Director of Human Resources (HR). Karen brings to this position over 15 years of experience as an HR professional in the humanitarian nonprofit world with organizations such as World Relief and World Vision. Her areas of specialty in HR are DEI, Talent Management and Recruitment, and Training and Development, and she is certified by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). In her career, Karen has supported programs in Latin America, the Caribbean, and East Africa. A former public school teacher, Karen previously taught English literature and English as a second language (ESL). She has a master’s degree in Cross-Cultural Studies and previously taught English at the university level. She is also a speaker, writer, and immigration advocate, who immigrated from Guatemala as a child. Karen has written two books about the immigrant experience in North America, the latest of which is Beyond Welcome.
