UP for Change
Developing leadership through participatory grant-making.

Program Description
With partnership and support from the Oak Foundation, the Unique Perspectives (UP) for Change program engages youth with learning differences as decision-makers in grant-making to youth-serving organizations. Participants lead the full grant-making cycle, from co-designing a request for proposals and reviewing applications to awarding grants and conducting project evaluations. Participants gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead, manage, and learn from awarding $600,000 in grant funds to community organizations throughout the United States.
Change in Action
Through UP for Change, 26 young leaders awarded $600,000 USD to seven youth-serving organizations across the country.
“UP for Change gave me a sense of pride and self-confidence. I became more aware of the accessibility around me, and I felt like my experience could help others like me.”
