LEAPS: Bhavani Tivakaran on Advocating for Change

Bhavani Tivakaran, President of the Teen Advisory Committee with Step Forward (https://www.stepforwardnla.org/) of Northwest Louisiana, on the potential of young people to create change in their communities. We spoke with Bhavani through the LEAPS program. LEAPS, a two-year initiative of BHP and the International Youth Foundation, creates partnerships with local organizations in West Texas (greater Midland/Odessa area) and South Texas (between San Antonio and Victoria) and Northwest Louisiana to equip the areas’ young people—ages 11 to 24—with the skills needed to succeed in school, work, and life and to become more engaged members of their communities.
